How to Plan a Street Party for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Queen's Platinum Jubilee
26 Apr, 2022

You might be aware that in UK we get an extra bank holiday to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. There will be a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June 2022, that will commemorate the Queens 70 years in service. So, the real question is what are you going to do?

A street party? The UK has a long history of commemorating events through a street party and can be dated back to as early as 1919 where ‘peace teas’ were introduced as a way to celebrate the end of the war. A perfect way to bring together people within the community as they enjoy the widespread feeling of jubilation and relief to be safe.

Why a street party is great for the Queen’s platinum jubilee?

A Street party is a fantastic way to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee – we have listed a few reasons for you below.

  • ✨ To get to know people within your community
  • ✨ Great way to support the Queen
  • ✨ Lasting friendships
  • ✨ Great fun

3 ways your street can decorate for the Queen’s platinum jubilee

1. Fly the flag – The British flag should be an absolute must! But you don’t have to limit yourself to flags, you can use the British symbol on bunting, banners and even edible party food.

2. Download the emblem – The emblem will be used on all official merchandise and is available for you to download for free by clicking on this link https://www.royal.uk/queens-platinum-jubilee-emblem

3. Food – we all know that a party would not be the same without the food. However, preparing food for the whole street can be a little daunting, unless you are all chipping in for a caterer. We suggest that each household brings some of their favourite dishes that way you can be assured that everyone is catered for – including special diets.
